End of Season Weekend Report….

September 18, 2025/

So, in the end there was no fairytale. The 1s ended the season in the relegation zone and are looking towards Division 3 cricket next year. It was always a tough task, needing to beat a strong Cheadle Hulme side to stay up, and despite the lads trying their hardest we could not compete with a side a class above us. The bare bones of the result were that our guests posted 280-3 off 40 overs, based on a 190 2nd wicket partnership between Ollie Willett and Adam Wilde, Willett ending on 150 not out. In reply our quest for quick runs faltered as we lost wickets, resulting in us being bowled out for 150. There were a few “what ifs?” along the way. What if the catch off veteran Adam Wilde had not been off a no ball? What if the rain had stayed away from our game in the same way it stayed away from Haslington? Tommy, our beautiful five-year-old boy has already overcome cancer twice with extraordinary courage and bravery. Now, as he faces it for the third time, we’re fundraising to access treatment abroad to give him every chance to beat this. 🌈 _______ 🌈 Tommy’s Journey – Fighting Cancer for the Third Time Tommy is an absolutely beautiful, bright, funny, and joyful 5-year-old who loves rainbows, cars, football & fully takes advantage of being the youngest of 5 siblings. He lives in Sale, on the outskirts of Manchester. Tommy’s smile is magnetic, his spirit is fierce, and he brings light and laughter wherever he goes. To meet him, you’d never guess the battles he’s already faced ,not once, but three times. At just 2 years old, Tommy was diagnosed with Wilms tumour, a rare kidney cancer. He went through treatment: chemo, surgery, countless hospital visits…and he did it all with strength and his beautiful smile. He rang the end-of-treatment bell in November 2022, and we truly believed that chapter was closed.
