2010 pre season begins Pre season training begins February 2010 - see LATEST NEWS (left) NEW MEMBERS WELCOME About Us Ashton on Mersey Cricket and Tennis Club was established in 1897 at a site on Atkinson Road, moving in 1919 to the current site on Little Ees Lane, Sale. The existing brick clubhouse was built in 1986. In
2010 we are delighted to be rejoining the Cheshire County League.
In 2008 we narrowly missed out on promotion but returned to finish
as Cheshire League Champions in 2009 with 15 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats.
We remain a club with a young but talented membership and thriving
junior section. Significant ground improvements have taken place since
our last tenure in the County League including a much-improved square,
covers and score-box. In 2005 we began an energy saving program with
a target of reducing our energy cost by 45% within 5 years. This was
achieved a year early in September 2009 when we commissioned a grant
funded 51 panel Solar PV energy system. In October 2009 a three lane
nets construction project was completed (grant aided by ECB). With
no less than 6 divisional changes in 10 seasons, Ashton on Mersey
CC are now back on track and well placed for the County League 2010
The club offers superb cricket, tennis, table tennis, pool and darts facilities as well as social membership. Our excellent and recently refurbished function room is available for hire throughout the year. |
