Planning has commenced for the 2017 Junior Cricket Academy Group following the success since its inauguration in 2013.
For previous years, the players were selected for the Academy based on the skills they have shown in junior cricket and on promise for senior cricket. The group is currently a dozen with ages between 14 and 18.
Players have received a structured coaching programme over 8 indoor sessions at Trafford College Sports Hall, including video analysis of batting and bowling, together with advice on how to enhance or develop particular skills. The players also completed self-assessment forms which led to working on strengths and weaknesses defined by them.
The coaching team reviewed the winter sessions and worked with the Junior Academy Group during the summer, including provision of special competitive opportunities. Invitations to join the Academy are normally in close season for the subsequent 12 months, so new blood can be accommodated as long as Academy core skills have been demonstrated.
